In order to effectively manage your warehouse with GraniteWMS, make sure that:
ALL the STOCK is LABELLED – GraniteWMS cannot perform an accurate count without labels
The ERP is updated with every item currently on the shelf in your warehouse
ALL THE LOCATIONS are correctly LABELLED
All the stock items are in their CORRECT LOCATION
If an item needs to be moved, ensure that transaction was correctly recorded on your scanner
That the WIFI signal is STRONG (in order to avoid scanner delays)
That there is not more than one location label or item label placed on a specific location
Items that have not yet been scanned (just received) and items that are waiting to be shipped out to the customer (items that are already scanned out in GraniteWMS) are in clearly distinguishable locations and have been recorded in the system
It would be considered wise to ensure that all stocktake sesssions take place on a day that is not too busy. The reason for this is because ongoing transactions can interfere with stock count results.
*A NOTE ON THE WAREHOUSING STAFF: Ensure that the warehouse manager in place is in fact able to command attention and respect from the warehousing staff. Ensure (if this is the first stock count with the WMS taking place) that all staff are aware of all the rules and procedures of the stock count. A useful idea is to split the staff in to teams of two or three; one person can scan while the other two count the stock Remember, as with any system: what you put in will be what you get out. Discipline and focus are imperative!
